Who We Are
The EAC Dyslexia Center is the brainchild of the team at Educational Advocacy and Consulting. It is the result of our advocacy work for the many children identified with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, including the many identified as twice-exceptional.
Our Mission
It is our mission to empower both families and children (of all ages) to receive all of their rights including identification, eligibility, structured literacy instruction, and accommodations to improve their ability to have appropriate access to their education.

About Our Team
Carol Dimas
President / Founder: Educational Advocate
Carol Dimas is an Illinois State-Certified Highly Qualified Teacher in Elementary Education and Special Education K-12. She is a Reading Specialist and Learning Behavior Specialist. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and a Masters of Science in Special Education.
During her twenty-five-plus years of experience in education, Carol began teaching children with special needs in the public school system. She helped pilot a program that involved a collaboration between the school district and Loyola University Department of Psychiatry to better serve culturally disadvantaged youth in the area of mental health. She was also the chair of the Special Education committee to develop a district-wide Positive Behavior Intervention Program.
Cassie Clark
Dyslexia Center Director / Co-Founder
Cassie Clark holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Special Education with a concentration in dyslexia, and has completed additional coursework through Yale University’s Center for Dyslexia & Creativity. Cassie is a Certified Wilson Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.) and CERI Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist (C-SLDS). As Director and Co-Founder of the Dyslexia Center, Cassie’s journey began as a parent of a child with dyslexia and has ignited her passion for helping support students with language-based learning disabilities.
Cassie is a strong believer in “Literacy for All” and is dedicated to helping students achieve success in school and beyond. Cassie provides private, individualized Wilson instruction, along with expertise on dyslexia rights and advocacy. Cassie is a Certified Special Education Dyslexia Advocate, a trusted provider for the International Dyslexia Association, Center for Effective Reading Instruction, Everyone Reading Illinois, and Learning Ally, and a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates & the Learning Disabilities Association.
Stephanie Dawson
Educational Advocate & Educational Diagnostician
Stephanie Dawson is a Virginia State-Certified Teacher in Special Education K-12. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with extensive Masters level work in Special Education. She has worked in the field of Special Education for more than 20 years as a Special Education teacher, Educational Diagnostician, and Special Education Designee in the public school settings.
As a Diagnostician, Stephanie will be administering our comprehensive reading assessments and screenings. Stephanie supervised teams of Special Educators, and developed and implemented ongoing training sessions for both Special Education and General Education staff alike. In addition to being a Registered Behavior Technician, Stephanie also brings the expertise of having her certification in Trauma-Informed Care through RACSB to support our clients impacted by trauma. Stephanie is a member of the Council of Parents, Attorneys, and Advocates.
Kelly Houston
Dyslexia Therapist/Educational Advocate
Kelly Houston is an Illinois-certified K-12 Teacher with a Masters of Arts in Education: Reading Specialist. She worked in the public school system for 10 years before her current role as a Dyslexia Therapist and Educational Advocate. Kelly obtained her Wilson Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.) and Wilson Fundations Facilitator certifications through Wilson Language Learning.
Kelly provides individualized Wilson Reading System instruction to individuals with language-based learning disabilities, such as; dyslexia. Kelly is a Certified Special Education Dyslexia Advocate, an approved provider for Everyone Reading Illinois, an ambassador for the Reading League Illinois Chapter, and a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and the International Dyslexia Association.
Jeanne Marois
Dyslexia Therapist
Jeanne Marois is a Massachusetts State-Certified K-12 Teacher with a Masters of Education in Reading and a Masters of Special Education with a concentration in dyslexia. She holds a certification in English Education 5-9 and 9-12. Jeanne has worked in education in the public school system since 1997. She is a Certified Wilson Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T). Jeanne has employed a variety of reading and writing interventions to support a plethora of learning styles. She has experience conducting a variety of formal and informal reading assessments. Jeanne is available for individualized Wilson tutoring for families who are interested in this program for their children, as well as small group reading camps this summer.
Katie Cseh
Dyslexia Therapist
Katie is a Certified Teacher in the state of Ohio. She has a dual teaching license in the areas of Early Childhood Education and Special Education. She has her Literacy Endorsement, a Master’s Degree in Literacy, and is a Certified Wilson Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.). Katie has over 20 years of teaching, coaching, and training with students and teachers in the area of dyslexia. She is LETRS trained and also a LETRS facilitator.
Katie has extensive experience working with students using the Wilson Reading System and is available for individualized Wilson tutoring.
Nicole Ogden
Dyslexia Practitioner
Nicole Ogden is a Pennsylvania State certified teacher with a Masters of Education in Special Education. She holds certifications in elementary education and special education. Nicole has worked in the public school system for over 15 years. She is a Certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner and has over a decade of experience teaching Wilson Fundations. Nicole has received training in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) and actively participates in professional development opportunities in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Spelling.
Kim Waters
Dyslexia Therapist
Kim Waters is an Illinois State-Certified Early Childhood -12 Teacher with a Masters of Arts in Education: Reading Specialist. She has worked in education in the public school system for 15 years with students ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Kim is a Certified Wilson Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.). She has experience with a variety of reading interventions to ensure her students receive instruction that is specific to their individual needs. Kim is available for individualized Wilson tutoring for families who are interested in this program for their children, as well as for small group reading camps in the summer.
Jay Smith
Educational Consultant
Jay Smith’s experience in the field of education is far-reaching with thirteen years of experience as an elementary teacher, and 24 years combined as an elementary, middle school, and special education principal for bright students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, including Principal at the Hyde Park Day School. Additional experience includes teaching middle school endorsement classes as an adjunct professor for 12 years.
Julie Fitzner
Math Practitioner
Julie Fitzner is a certified Elementary School Teacher in the state of Illinois. Julie received her Masters of Special Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 2020. Julie has worked in the public school system for the past 7 years. Julie has received training in the Multisensory Math Program. She has experience working with a wide variety of students while working to meet each student’s individual needs. Julie is available for individualized Multisensory Math tutoring for families who are interested in the program.
Suzanne Miller, Ed.D.
Dyslexia Therapist
Suzanne Miller is a Pennsylvania state-certified teacher in Special Education K-12, Regular Education, and Early Childhood Education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management, a master’s Degree in Special Education, and a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership. She has worked in Special Education for over 20 years as a Special Education teacher, remediator, instructor, and Special Education Director in the public school setting. Suzanne obtained her Wilson Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.) Certification through Wilson Language Training. Additionally, she has completed her KPEERI Exam (Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction) and LETRS I Training. Suzanne has experience and training in a variety of reading interventions to ensure her students receive customized instruction that is specific to their individual needs.
Vanessa Duarte
Dyslexia Therapist
Vanessa is a highly experienced educator and dyslexia therapist based in Dallas, Texas. As a parent of two neurodivergent children, she is a passionate advocate for students and families who are navigating through their unique educational journeys. Vanessa leverages her personal and professional experiences to provide tailored support and create effective learning strategies, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed academically and build confidence in their abilities. Previously, Vanessa worked as a dyslexia interventionist at Solar Preparatory for Boys helping elementary and middle school students learn to overcome learning challenges, including dyslexia. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, visiting the Dallas Arboretum, and going to Disney with her family.
